2006 was a great Show!
Calling the trucking industry the nation’s lifeblood, Daryl Kramp, M.P. for Prince Edward – Hastings, spoke of the necessary and valued service it provides. Then, the ribbon was cut to open the show and the Stirling Lions Truck Show and Shine was officially up and running!
Magnificently gleaming rigs had been arriving all day Friday and, by that evening’s Meet and Greet in the Lions Hall, a good time was being had by all. Trucks continued to arrive during the night and into Saturday morning and everyone in Stirling heard the horns! Sunday wrapped up with presentations with lots of winners in all the classes and a Winner’s Parade where everyone cheered and waved goodbye. Lots of cries of, “See you next year!” were heard from the crowd and truckers alike.
The weekend was a great experience for all of us. We met some fantastic people who brought their families, friends and trucks with them to help us make this first truck show an event where, though they arrived as strangers, they left as friends.
Plans are already being made for next year’s Show – the ideas stretching from a BBQ tail gate party on the first night to more day time entertainment and a bigger, themed Trade Show designed not only to be industry specific but to attract all members of the family as well! See you in 2007!
